I began teaching at McDonald Elementary School in Seffner, FL where I taught in both 2nd and 4th grades over a 10 year period. I had many wonderful experiences there from the school becoming a charter school and the 4th grade hosting Renaissance festivals to taking classes on field trips to Hillsborough Bay watching for manatees. In 1994, I moved to Dallas, GA and got a job teaching in a special education classroom with 4th and 5th graders who needed intensive educational help. Those students taught me a lot about learning and life. It was during this time that I earned my Master's degree and eventually moved to teaching at the high school level. I found it rewarding to help advise them in classes they needed for their college and careers paths. I enjoyed working with high school students and stayed there for 5 years. Finally, in 2006, I landed here in Bartow County at Woodland Middle School, and I have grown so much in my teaching career from co-teaching to resource teaching. I have worked in all three grade levels spending the most time in 6th and 7th grades.
I enjoyed school and while I was eager for the summer time, I was always ready to go back to school. I wanted to instill the love of learning in others! I did well in school , and I wanted to helped others do well, too. Also, I felt that I could reach out to children who might need a friendly face to help them throughout the day.
I have several hobbies, but I have to say reading is number one. I enjoy traveling and seeing the world around us. Then when I take the time, I enjoy playing the piano. Last but not least, I relax in my pool or swim when I have the chance. I have been married to my wonderful husband, David, for 9 years. We have one granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, we have a fur baby named Peanut, who is a 9-year old Havanese.
