I began my teaching career as substitute teacher. I enjoyed working with students so much that I decided to make a career out of it. I became a teacher by going through the T.A.P.P. program. I taught at Howard Middle School in Macon, GA for 6.5 years. I taught Social Studies at all three grade levels, 6-8. I then went to Union Elementary School as Assistant Principal. I was there for 6 months. I then became an assistant principal at Central High School in Macon. I spent four years at Central. Most recently, I accepted the position as principal here at THE Woodland Middle School at Euharlee. I am honored and proud to be the lead learner for WMSE.
As the principal, my primary responsibility is to be the lead learner of our school. It is my task to model for our staff and students what we expect them to do. My job as an administrator is to empower, equip, and support our teachers and staff, so that in turn, they can empower the students to achieve at their highest level.
I chose education as a second career. I chose education because teachers have always been heroes for me. I've always admired teachers for what they do for students. I became a teacher because I want to help shape the future leaders of our country. I want to help students fulfill their potential and see their potential.
I love the outdoors. I love kayaking, hiking, going to the beach, and sitting by the pool. I love to travel. I enjoy all sports, especially the Georgia Bulldogs, Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Falcons, and Atlanta United (yes, I'm a homer). I am so blessed to be married to Emily Stone Blankenship. She is also an educator. I have two children, Melodee and Matthew. I also have one very energetic dog, a Maltipoo named Bear. I am so honored to be a part of the Woodland Middle School family.
