6th grade Science

I started my teaching career here at Woodland Middle School during the 2005-2006 school year. I had just finished student teaching math in the seventh grade the previous spring and was hired by the principal, Mr. Barnes. During my 13 years here at the school, I have taught science, math, and social studies. I taught in eighth grade for the first ten years and I've been in sixth grade for the last three years. I coached soccer for several years and I have co-taught the energy camp for several years, which is held for one week every summer.
Since I can remember, I've always wanted to be a teacher. I had the best teacher in middle school that made class fun and exciting. She was always supportive and loving to all her students. To this day, we still keep in contact and write letters to each other. (I know, I know...who still writes letters!) I hope to instill the same love of learning in my students as she did for me.
When I am not at school, I am spending time with my family or reading. I love to try out new recipes on my family whether it is baking or cooking! We love to travel to new places, hike at Red Top on the weekends, and play board games. My husband, Garry, and I just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary in June. We have a nine year old son, Blake, who keeps us busy with cub scouts, basketball, karate, and the occasional drive to "catch" Pokémon. We also have a precious cat named Pippa.
