Below are a few of the duties and responsibilities of the counseling job here at WMSE:
- Individual Counseling
- Classroom Guidance
- Assists with the lead test coordinator for the End of Grades(Milestones) Testing
- Identifies and informs 7th grade students who qualify for the Duke University Talent Identification Program
- Identifies and informs students who qualify for the new Georgia REACH Scholarship Program
- Coordinates Backpack Buddies
- Is the contact with The Etowah Chapter of the Bartow County Daughters of the American Revolution to assist in the selection of a ‘well-rounded’ 8th grade student to be recognized at annual luncheon.
- Is the contact for the Cartersville Optimist Club to assist in the selection of an ‘outstanding’ 8th grade student to be recognized at a yearly breakfast.
- Organizes the Mentor Program alongside the Bartow Mentor Program
- Assists with the Registration process for our 8th grade to the High School
- Plans and organizes the 5th grade Transition to our middle school
- Assists in the planning and organizing of the new 6th Grade Parent Night in the Fall each year
- Posts all nine weeks honor rolls lists
- Plans and organizes the First Semester ‘All A’ Social
- Plans and organizes our Annual Awards Day
- Organizes, supervises, and trains our Woodland Middle Ambassadors
- Assists with our bimonthly Advisement
- Consults with parents, teachers, staff and many outside agencies
- Organizes and coordinates the Teacher of the Year selection
- Contributes to the monthly school newsletter
- Attends county wide counselor meetings
- Attends the Northwest Georgia RESA Counselor Consortiums
- Liaison to many outside agencies’ information to distribute out to our school via social media
- Refers to community agencies
