I have worked for two schools in Bartow County as a middle school counselor. I worked at Adairsville Middle School for my first three years in education. After three years, I moved to Woodland Middle School the initial year that this school opened. This is the beginning of my 24th year working in Bartow County School System. I currently sponsor the WMS Ambassadors. With the help from the teachers, I select several students from the 7th and 8th grade who are outgoing and friendly to all. These students give tours of the building to any new student and help the new student become more comfortable in their new school. The WMS Ambassadors give the tours to all rising 6th grade students in the spring from all our feeder elementary schools. My responsibility in all this is to train and oversee the ambassadors in giving a proper tour, being positive, giving ideas of different topics to discuss, and sharing their own experiences at Woodland Middle School.
I became a school counselor because I wanted an opportunity to assist students to persevere through tough times amidst what they may be facing at home. I am their cheerleader and I can be that person even when they get in trouble or don’t make a good grade. I’m the one who can be right there giving them pep talks for their next opportunity to do better. Through my dedication to our students, I may continue to encourage, to assist and love them in good times and bad times.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time in nature because it encompasses so much peace and beauty. I like to travel to Europe and visit all the different countries and I would even like to travel more here in the USA. I’m an avid reader of many types of books. You can frequently find me at the Public library browsing through new books to read. My favorite season is Fall because of the temperatures, the beauty of the leaves, the holidays, and football. I love to ride my motorcycle anywhere the road takes me. I am often researching decorating ideas for my home. I enjoy spending time with friends and family, especially those of whom I do not see often. I must admit I am avid animal lover, any and all of them. Lastly, I like to be available for anyone in need and help the person as much as I am able.
